The NHS cites the figures below as a guide to blood pressure:

Low blood pressure ranges from: 70/40 to 89/59.
Healthy blood pressure ranges from: 90/60 to 120/80.
Slightly raised blood pressure ranges from: 121/81 to 134/84.
High blood pressure ranges from: 135/85 to 169/99.

If you check your blood pressure regularly at home, please let your GP know you’re doing this.

Please ensure you have not had any products with caffeine in the hour prior to measuring your blood pressure.

Ideally, please ensure you provide several readings that have been taken at various times over different days.

You should not use this tool if you or the person you’re using it for:

– are aged 17 or under
– are pregnant
– have a medical condition that can affect your blood pressure
– are taking medicines that can affect your blood pressure
– have recently had surgery or experienced an injury
– are feeling unwell with new symptoms such as dizziness, nausea or headache
– have recently seen a healthcare professional about your blood pressure and received medical advice

You should not use this tool to diagnose any symptoms. If you’re worried about your blood pressure, book an appointment at a GP surgery.
